Alleged Redmi 9 Google Play Console Listing Spotted

Last month, the upcoming Redmi 10X 4G smartphone appeared on TENAA with its entire specifications. It is speculated to arrive in China as a rebranded version of the recently unveiled Redmi Note 9. 91mobiles has come across a Google Play Console listing of the Redmi 9 smartphone. While the publication claims that it is Redmi 10X 4G, it seems to be the upcoming Redmi 9 phone.

In March, a Xiaomi phone that was codenamed as Merlin had appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform. The Geekbench 5 listing revealed that the Xiaomi Merlin is driven by Helio G70 chipset and 6 GB of RAM. The phone was found to be running on Android 10 OS.

The same Merlin phone has now appeared on Google Play Console to reveal some of its key specs. It states that the phone supports full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and a pixel density of 440ppi. The listing again confirms the presence of Helio G70 chipset that includes two ARM Cortex-A75 cores working at 2.0GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores ticking at 1.7GHz.

Early rumors of the Redmi 9 had claimed that it will come equipped with Helio G70 SoC. Hence, there is a possibility that the Merlin could be the Redmi 9 handset. Contradictory reports have claimed that the Redmi 9 will be driven by Helio G80 SoC.

Xiaomi recently unveiled the Redmi Note 9 smartphone in European markets. It debuted as the world’s first phone with Helio G85 chipset onboard. M2003J15SC, M2003J15SG, and M2003J15SS model numbers are associated with Redmi Note 9. The M2003J15SC phone also received approval from the TENAA authority of China. Its appearance at China Telecom product library revealed that it will be heading to China as Redmi 10X 4G. What’s confusing is the presence of the “Redmi 10X 4G” name in the Google Play Console listing for the phone that appears to be heading to market as Redmi 9.
