It has been a year since Asus announced the ROG Phone – the company’s first-ever gaming smartphone. Right now, a new report out of Taiwan has revealed that its successor, the ROG Phone 2, could be announced during an event in China on July 23rd next month.
Recently, Asus ROG had announced a partnership with Tencent Games (the developer of PUBG Mobile) to optimize gaming experience on its new ROG Phone 2. Therefore, we wouldn’t be surprise to see some innovative customization on the device which is touted to provide gamer a heaty and immersive gaming experience. Most of the optimizations we believe, will be pointed towards Android games developed under the subsidiaries of Tencent Holdings.
According to the same report, the upcoming ROG Phone 2 is said to arrive in two different models with the base model coming with a price tag of RMB 4,399 (S$871). Although there isn’t much information on its hardware so far, but some of the key specs which we could be certain of include a 120Hz display driven by a Snapdragon 855 SoC, as well as 12GB of RAM and 512GB onboard storage in its memory compartment.
