Huawei had launched the gigantic Mate 20 X smartphone along with Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro last year. The variants of the Mate 20 X that were released through the local network operators had model numbers EVR-AL00 and EVR-TL00. A variant of the Mate 20 X with model number EVR-AN00 has been approved by 3C authority in China. This model number belongs to the 5G edition of the Mate 20 X. Hence, it appears that the Mate 20 X 5G smartphone may soon debut in China.
Recently, the Chinese government gave green signal to the local mobile operators by providing them with 5G licenses and now the Mate 20 X 5G has been approved by 3C body in the country. This suggests that it could be one of the first 5G phones to release in China. The Mate 20 X was released in color variants such as Phantom Silver and Midnight Blue. An image of the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G sporting a new color has appeared on Chinese social sites. This suggests that the Mate 20 X 5G may hit the market in a new color option.
The Huawei Mate 20 X 5G is expected to arrive with identical specs as its 4G LTE variant. The Kirin 980 chipset that powers the smartphone will be coupled with Balong 5G modem that will allow it to support 5G connectivity
