In August, Meizu had launched the Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus smartphones. The rumor mill has been speculating that the Chinese manufacturer flagship phone would be dubbed as Meizu 16s. Today, the Meizu CEO Jack Wong has confirmed through the Meizu forums that the Meizu 16s will go official as early as May next. It could be equipped with Snapdragon 8150 chipset.
When quizzed on when will the company be launching the Meizu 17 smartphone, Wong responded that it will be debuting the Meizu 16s smartphone as the anniversary version of the Meizu 16th. There is no information available on the specifications of the smartphone, but it is very likely to feature Snapdragon 8150 chipset.
Wong has revealed that the Meizu 16s will be sporting the same design as the Meizu 16th which indicates that it could be equipped with improved internals. If it goes official in May with Snapdragon 8150, Meizu could become one of the early adopters of the first 7nm chipset from Qualcomm. The Meizu 16s is speculated to house a larger battery and carry support for NFC connectivity. Shown above is the fan-made render of the Meizu 16s.
