Microsoft Surface Mobile Evidence Appears in China

Microsoft has stressed on the fact that it is not giving up the smartphone business. Since Microsoft has axed its Lumia series smartphones, its last smartphone was the Lumia 650 that was launched in February last year and the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL from October 2015 were the last flagship phones from Microsoft. Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella has consistently stated the company is working on delivering an ultimate mobile experience and the company next phone won’t be like traditional smartphones. Fresh information coming from China suggests that the device will be probably called Microsoft Surface Mobile.

A video (now deleted) had surfaced on Microsoft’s Bilibili account in China which contained the above information that has been revealed by a leakster. The device will be powered by a Snapdragon processor. If it’s a flagship, probably it will be driven by Snapdragon 835.  The above tweet suggests that it is not just a handheld device but a mobile workstation. With Snapdragon platform onboard, it can it will deliver stellar performance and consume less power.

With the new “on to table” Continuum projection feature, it can run over one hour of Win 32 desktop applications. The device appears to be some sort convertible feature as it features a hinge that can tilt up to 185 degrees. It also supports Surface Pen.

What makes this report confusing is the use of Project “Andromeda” as the basis of this new product. There is mentioning of two codenames such as Surface Peking and Surface Slavonia for its Surface Mobile which makes there are two iterations of the product.
