Even though the OPPO Reno series is barely four months, but the Chinese smartphone maker is now ready to introduce it’s successor, dubbed as the Reno2 series, on August 28th later this month.
This time round, the Reno2 series will make its debut in India first, followed by most probably China and the rest of world. Traditionally, Chinese smartphone maker tend to announced new devices in their home market first, but that doesn’t seems to be the case for OPPO – whose sub-brand Realme also regularly debut new phones in India first.
According to the official press invite, the upcoming OPPO Reno2 will feature a quad-camera setup this time round. This is a huge upgrade to the current dual and triple-camera configurations on the OPPO Reno and Reno 10x Zoom. Similarly, OPPO Reno’s infamous shark fin-style selfie camera will also make its come back for the upcoming Reno2 series.
Similar to the current Reno series, we can expect to see multiple devices in the new Reno2 lineup. The higher-end model this time round will apparently feature an improved 20x hybrid zoom, up from the 10x hybrid zoom which the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom offers.
Previously, there have been speculations that the upcoming Reno2 series may be the first to debut OPPO’s in-screen selfie camera. However, OPPO’s VP Brian Shen had already clarified on his Weibo microblog earlier today that there wouldn’t be such phones this year. Therefore, for the time being, we can expect all the smartphones in the Reno2 series to sport a shark fin-style selfie camera.
