Samsung’s First Foldable Smartphone to Debut in December

Samsung is gunning to become to the first smartphone manufacturer to launch a smartphone with foldable display. In September, the company had claimed that if it is able to resolve the technical problems with its foldable phone, it will debut it this year. It appears that the arrival of the highly anticipated Samsung smartphone is close at hand as a South Korean publication has claimed that the smartphone may debut in December this year.

The handset is speculated to feature fold-in mechanism that will be allowing users to open it like a book to use it as a tablet. The upcoming foldable smartphone from Samsung is expected to house a 7.3-inch OLED display.

The production of the OLED panels is expected to begin in March this year followed by mass production in September. The production of the “super premium” foldable smartphone will begin in November this year as the company is likely to release it in the market in December this year.

Rumors have it that the South Korean company may showcase it to the investors privately in September. Since IFA is the major annual tech exhibition held in the month of September, the company may use the platform to show the upcoming foldable phone to its investors. The technical specifications of the smartphone are not known yet.
