Sharp Aquos R Officially Announced with Snapdragon 835, 2K Display, AI Assistant

Sharp has officially announced its new flagship smartphone, the Sharp Aquos R smartphone. The phone features a 5.3-inch IGZO screen that carries support for 2K resolution along with a refresh rate of 120 MHz. It is powered by the most powerful Qualcomm mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 835.

The SoC is coupled with 4 GB of RAM and the native storage provided on it is 64 GB. It does not feature a microSD card slot. Its rear camera of 22.6-megapixel with f/1.9 aperture comes with features like OIS and high-speed autofocus. Its front-facing camera is of 16.3-megapixel. A fingerprint scanner comes embedded under the Home button.  It runs on Android 7.1 Nougat OS and is packed with a 3,160 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.

Emopa is the digital assistant that Sharp has introduced through the Aquos R phone. Based on the location of the user, it can provide information such as news and weather reports. The AI assistant can be activated by calling out “Hello Emopa.”

The Sharp Aquos R has a water and dust resistant chassis with front and rear sides made up of glass. Its pricing has not been announced yet. It would be coming in colors like black and silver. Sharp is also providing a charging dock called Robokuru which works with Emopa AI assistant.
