Qualcomm is speculated to announce the Snapdragon 8150 7nm chipset in the coming month. It is speculated that the chipset will be equipped with tri-cluster design. The major highlights of the Snapdragon 8150 are NPU unit and 5G connectivity. Compared to the predecessor 10nm Snapdragon 845 chipset, the upcoming Snapdragon 8150 SoC is expected to deliver improved performance while consuming lesser power.
On AnTuTu, the Snapdragon 8150 chipset has appeared with an impressive benchmarking score of 362,292 points. It is the highest AnTuTu score achieved by an Android device. The SoC includes Adreno 640 graphics which is rumored to be deliver 20 percent better performance than Adreno 630 graphics present inside Snapdragon 845. According to AnTuTu, the large, medium and small tri-clusters of Snapdragon 8150 respectively work at 2.84 GHz, 2.4 GHz and 1.78 GHz.
The AnTuTu list of top 10 best performance Android phones for October month has Kirin 980 chipset powered Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 X phones on the top three positions. The Mate 20 is leading the list with a score of 311,840.
Compared to Kirin 980 AnTuTu score, it appears that the Snapdragon 8150 offers 16 percent better performance. It appears that very soon Snapdragon 8150 powered phones will appear in Q1 next year to deliver to dethrone Kirin 980 powered phones from the leading positions on the listing of AnTuTu’s top performing Android phones.
