Xiaomi Confirms Android Pie, Oreo Receiving Devices in Q4 2018 in China

Xiaomi has released a new list which includes names of those devices that will be treated with Android Pie and Android Oreo by the last quarter of this year in China. The below list shows that Xiaomi has already rolled out Android Oreo update for most of its devices and the Mi MIX 2S, Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer Edition have been treated with the latest Android 9 Pie OS.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition, Mi 8 SE and Mi Max 3 are the devices that are slated to receive Android Pie update in this quarter. The Redmi 5 series such as Redmi 5, 5A, 5 Plus along with Xiaomi Mi 5X are scheduled to get updated to Android Oreo in this quarter. The Oreo update for the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus has been delayed due to some software related issues.

Android 9 Pie

Xiaomi has confirmed that those devices that have been provided with two major Android updates will not be given Android Pie update. Also, devices that have become obsolete won’t be receiving the latest version of Android. The company did not confirm on the exact names of devices that won’t be provided with Android 9 Pie update. The recently announced Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 is the first phone from the company to come loaded with Android 9 Pie OS.
