Since Xiaomi wanted to launch the Mi MIX 2S in the first quarter of the year, the launch date of the Xiaomi Mi 7 flagship was pushed to Q2. Fresh information reveals that the company is facing issue with the 3D sensing function of the Mi 7. Hence, the arrival of the Mi 7 could be delayed to Q3.
Fresh information reveals that 3D facial recognition modules which is joint venture by Qualcomm, Himax Technologies and Truly Opto-electronics is producing poor results on the Mi 7. Hence, it is speculated that the Mi 7’s arrival may get delayed to the third quarter of this year. Xiaomi is yet to confirm any information on the upcoming flagship phone.
The Xiaomi Mi 7 is speculated to be arrive as the first Android phone with 3D facial recognition feature like the iPhone X. Among all the flagship chipsets that are available, only the Snapdragon 845 includes support for 3D sensing. Hence, Samsung that makes use of its Exynos chipsets and Huawei that is known for using Kirin chipsets on flagship phones are unlikely to launch phones with 3D facial recognition soon. Hence, the Mi 7 is expected to hit the market as the first Android smartphone with the advanced facial scanning feature.
