Xiaomi Mi 7 May Support 7.5-Watt Wireless Charging, In-Screen Fingerprint Scanner

When Xiaomi had joined the Qi Wireless Power Consortium in September 2017, the rumor mill started speculating that the Xiaomi Mi 7 could be the first smartphone from the company to arrive with wireless charging feature. Fresh information revealed by a Chinese publication reveals that the Mi 7 may arrive with fast wireless charging of 7.5W level.

In January, Xiaomi’s foundry Shanghai Lonqi Technology Co. Ltd revealed through an official WeChat public account that the Xiaomi’s next flagship phone would be equipped with wireless charging and Integrated Device Technology (IDT) will be providing wireless charging module for the smartphone. A new source has claimed that the Xiaomi Mi 7 will offer 7.5W wireless charging support which is same as supported the iPhone X, 8 and 8 Plus. It is around half the speed of the latest Qi 1.2 standards.

Apart from wireless charging, the Mi 7 is pegged to arrive with 6-inch OLED display by Samsung that may feature a notch. The Snapdragon 845 chipset power may arrive in 6 GB and 8 GB RAM options. It is likely to launch in June this year. Last year, the Mi 6 was launched in April. However, the arrival of Mi 7 could be delayed because of Mi MIX 2S’ launch on March 27 and another rumor that claims that Xiaomi is working on introducing under-display fingerprint sensor on it.
