In the previous month, Xiaomi had launched the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 smartphone. It could be the last flagship phone from the company for the year 2018. It appears that the Chinese manufacturer is looking forward to have a marvelous start for the coming year because Xiaomi President Lin Bin has shared a snapshot of a mysterious phone 48-megapixel camera phone that will be announced in January.
In July, Sony had introduced the 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 as the world’s highest-resolution phone camera image sensor. In October, Samsung had launched the 48-megapixel ISOCEEL Bright GM1 image sensor. Its mass production has already started whereas Sony had confirmed in July that it will be shipping samples of IMX586 in September. Now that the above image clearly shows that there is a 48-megapixel camera on the mysterious smartphone, it could be equipped be the first phone to either feature ony IMX586 sensor or Samsung ISOCELL GM1.
The above image suggests that the mysterious Xiaomi phone could be featuring a vertical camera setup. The body of the phone is made out of glass. The 48-megapixel camera sensor is accompanied by dual-tone LED flash. The side of the phone seems to be featuring the volume buttons. Could it be the first Snapdragon 855 chipset powered smartphone from the company? Could it be the Xiaomi Mi 9? It is advisable to wait for newer information to confirm on its identity.
