After the launch of Xiaomi Mi MIX, LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8 duo, launching smartphones with huge display that offers higher screen-to-body ratio has become a trend. Even the iPhone 8 is expected to come with a screen that almost occupies its front panel. After Mi MIX, Xiaomi is expected to bring full-screen design to the upcoming Redmi Pro 2.
When a Xiaomi smartphone that was recently spotted with codename of Xiaomi Jason, the rumor mill predicted that it could be the Xiaomi Mi 6C. However, fresh information suggests that it could be the Redmi Pro 2, the successor of the first dual camera smartphone called Redmi Pro from Xiaomi.
Rumors have it that the Redmi Pro 2’s screen supports an aspect ratio of 18:9. Its side bezels is speculated to have a thickness of 0.5mm and the bottom bezel has a slightly broader bezel of 1.8mm. Like its predecessor, the Redmi Pro 2 may feature a rear-mounted fingerprint reader.
The GFXBench listing of Xiaomi Jason has revealed that the alleged Redmi Pro 2 would be arriving with 5.1-inch FHD screen and it will be driven by Snapdragon 660 chipset. Other specs include 6 GB RAM, Android 7.1.1 Nougat, dual rear camera system like the predecessor with 12-megapixel lens as one of its sensors and a 4-megapixel selfie camera. It is rumored to launch in the next month with a starting price of 1,999 Yuan (~$294).
