Xiaomi Snapdragon 855 Smartphone Surfaces On Geekbench

No doubt, Qualcomm is the leader in the chip manufacturing industry for smartphones and many OEMs are looking forward to its innovation. Presently, it has the Snapdragon 845 which most 2018 flagship uses but the entire SD800 series are meant for flagship devices – at least as at the time they were launched. In other to breach the gap between its mid-range SD600 series and the flagship SD800 series, Qualcomm developed the SD700 series with Snapdragon 710 as its maiden chip with SD720 in the works. Just as the company is trying to make sure that mid-range smartphones work like flagships, it is also making efforts to improve its flagship performance. The upcoming Snapdragon 855 will ensure that flagship smartphones work better and rumors have it that it has gone into mass production since early June.

Xiaomi is Qualcomm’s major customers. It was the first company to use the SD710 and one of the earliest to sport the SD845. Now, it appears that Xiaomi will also be one of the first companies to use the Snapdragon 855 SoC. Some days ago, a new Xiaomi device with the SD855 onboard surfaced on Geekbench. Before now, only Sony phone have been reported with this chip. However, the processor ID indicates a Snapdragon 835 chip and its scores is also on the SD835 level. The Xiaomi smartphone single-core performance score reached 1784 points while the multi-core running score reached 6359 points. The authenticity of this Geekbench report is therefore questionable since the Sony device with SD855 hit 3000+ for single core performance and 10000+ for the multi-core score. Nevertheless, this Xiaomi phone as per the Geekbench listing will come with Android 8.1.0, 64GB memory and the processor has a base frequency of 1.90 GHz.
