“Xiaomi Valentino” With Snapdragon 638 Appears on Geekbench

Chinese manufacturing giant, Xiaomi, is gearing up to unveil a couple of smartphones to the market. While we still await the arrival of Xiaomi Mi 7 and Xiaomi Redmi S2, we now have a new Xiaomi device codenamed “Xiaomi Valentino” on Geekbench. Interestingly, this smartphone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 638 SoC which should be an upgrade from the SD636 that we saw on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.

This mysterious device appeared on Geekbench yesterday but this is the first time we are hearing anything about a Snapdragon 638. If this is true, it will probably be an upgrade to the Snapdragon 636 as we have seen Qualcomm upgrade the SD650 line with chips like  SD652 or SD653. This new Snap 638  an octa-core SoC clocking 1.44 GHz. As for the rest of the specifications, the benchmarks have highlighted the presence of 6GB of RAM and Android 8.1 Oreo as an operating system.

The scores settle on 1485 points in single-core and 5440 points in multi-core. The graphics part should be entrusted to an Adreno GPU 509 or higher. While we wait to learn more, in this period the focus is on the next Xiaomi Mi 7, the new flagship from Xiaomi. As of now, there Xiaomi Redmi S2 will be launching on May 10th and it does not come with this chip. Thus we still don’t know the device that will end up with this chip but we have to keep our fingers crossed to see what the future holds.
