A study has been conducted by Ocean Insights in China to find out how many users continue using smartphones from the same series as their current smartphone.
This study was conducted on some of the most prominent Android smartphone series in the Chinese market, which comprises of smartphone series from Huawei, Xiaomi and Vivo.
Out of the top 10 smartphone series with the highest retention rate, the Huawei’s Mate series was discovered to top the chart with a retention rate of 55.01%. This essentially means that 55.01% of the users will continue using smartphones from the Mate series when they change a new phone.
Sitting at the second position is none other than Xiaomi’s Mi Max series, which has been one of the best-selling smartphone series for Xiaomi for the past few years. Quite surprisingly, Xiaomi has yet to announce the successor of last year’s Mi Max 3 this year.
Once again, Huawei’s flagship P series sits at the third position, with a whopping 47.06% retention rate. This shows that among all the flagship devices manufactured by Chinese smartphone makers, Huawei’s flagship devices including the likes of “Mate” and “P” series, have the most loyal consumer base in China. This of course, have helped the company to emerge as the top smartphone maker in China for the past few years.
Finally, in the 4th to 10th position, we have the Xiaomi Mi Note series, Xiaomi alphabetical series (i.e Mi 8, Mi 9, etc), Huawei Maimang series, Xiaomi Mi Mix series, Redmi Note series, Vivo Y series, as well as the Vivo X series.
