Xiaomi is reportedly working on the launch of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. As the name implies, it will be replacing the iconic Xiaomi 11 Ultra from last year. A protective case image of the smartphone has now surfaced to reveal its rear design and the massive camera layout.
The Xiaomi 11 Ultra’s rear camera block features a triple camera unit and a secondary display. The image that was leaked today shows that the camera module is big and round and that there is no second screen like there was in the last generation.
The leaked image suggests that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be equipped with seven cutouts, which may house around three to four cameras. One of them appears to be a periscope zoom lens. The other cutouts could be for the LED flash unit and other sensors.
The text below the cutouts suggests that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra may carry support for a 120x zoom. Rumors have it that the camera setup may include a 50-megapixel Sony IMX800-series sensor, a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera, a 48-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, and a Lidar sensor. The device is also expected to arrive with the Surge C2 image processing chip.
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is likely to be rumoured to house a 6.73-inch AMOLED QHD+ display with a curved edge design. It is expected to carry support for a 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate thanks to LTPO 2.0 technology. The device is likely to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset.
A couple of upcoming Xiaomi phones have bagged CMIIT certification. It is speculated that the device with 2203121C, which has appeared at CMIIT, will debut in China with the Xiaomi 12 Ultra moniker. In addition, Xiaomi phones with model numbers 2206123SC and 2206122SC are expected to arrive with the Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Pro monikers. Both phones are likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ SoC.
