Xiaomi Mi 7 To Launch With An OLED Display Panel & Dual Cameras

There has been a lot of fuss with respect to the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 7. Initial reports suggest that this smartphone will be launched at MWC in Barcelona, Spain later this month but there has been conflicting news that says that the Mi 7 will not feature at MWC. However, we know that it is coming this year. Now, some firmware files as shown my XDA developers has unveiled some salient information about this smartphone.

Obviously, this smartphone will be powered by Snapdragon 845 processor and it will run Android Oreo with MIUI 9 (and Project Treble compatibility to boot). However, the files specifically state that the Xiaomi Mi 7 will come with an OLED display which will be compatible with Always on Display feature. This will be the first Xiaomi smartphone to come with this feature. According to XDA Developers, the always on display will show “time, date, battery level, and up to 3 notification badges”.

Numerous binaries in the vendor partition allow Android to use the dual cameras. These binaries were found in the Mi 7 files which suggests that the smartphone will come with a dual camera setup but it does not state if it will be lodged at the rear or front. Other features to be expected with this smartphone include dual SIM, IR blaster, real-time Bokeh in the camera app, EIS, aptX HD Bluetooth audio codecs, and NFC support. However, this smartphone does not have SD card support and its wireless charging support has not been confirmed.
