Yesterday, Xiaomi announced the Redmi S2 as the first Redmi S (Redmi Selfie) series smartphone in China. There are multiple Redmi phones in China, and this one is positioned below the Redmi Note 5.
Redmi S2 Specifications and Features
The Xiaomi Redmi S2 features a metallic body that houses a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display that produces HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. The fingerprint scanner resides on the backside of the Redmi S2. Xiaomi has used the Snapdragon 625 chipset to power multiple smartphones and the newly unveiled Redmi S2 is also powered by the same SOC. The base model of the phone features 32 GB of storage and 3 GB of RAM. The higher model has an inbuilt storage of 64 GB and 4 GB of RAM. Both the models have dedicated slot for adding a microSD card. The S2 comes preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo.
The USP of the Redmi S2 is AI equipped 16-megapixel front camera with a pixel size of 2micron. It supported by a dedicated LED flash. The Redmi Note 5 Pro’s 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup enabled with EIS is available on the Redmi S2. The smartphone receives power from 3,080mAh battery.
