Huawei Mate X foldable smartphone has been sold out for the third time

Today, the highly anticipated Huawei Mate X foldable phone finally went on its third round of sale in China. However, many were left frustrated as the device was once again sold out for the third time in three weeks.

According to Huawei, the next round of sale will commence again on December 5th via Vmall. Despite the hefty price tag of 16,999 yuan (US$2,403), the Mate X remains one of the most highly sought after Huawei smartphone in China.

In fact, its not only the device itself which is expensive. The repair costs of the Mate X are considerably higher compared to other high-end devices as well.

For instance, the screen replacement for the device alone will set you back with 7,080 Yuan (US$1,006) – an amount which could get you a brand new Mate 30 Pro or even a Galaxy Note 10.

Although the Mate X is a red hot device in China, but it’s international availability remains uncertain till today. Recently, a Huawei’s spokesman had told CNBC that a global launch plan is still currently under review.

Perhaps, one of the main reasons for Huawei’s hesitation to bring the Mate X to the global market is perhaps due to the omission of pre-installed Google Play apps and services on their latest smartphones as a result of the ongoing US Trade ban.

With the omission of these crucial apps, it’s unlikely for consumers to fork out such a staggering sum of money for the device.
