Redmi K30 5G Could Support 144Hz Refresh Rate Through Update

Few months after the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 9, there were reports that its 60Hz resolution supporting screen could support up to 84Hz refresh rate through a secret update. Today, Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing took to Weibo to share a video that showcased the Redmi K30 5G phone with 144Hz refresh rate.

Weibing claims that the Redmi K30 5G was tuned to support 144Hz refresh rate in laboratory testing today. Hence, there is a possibility that the company may release an update in the near future that will allow the 120Hz refresh rate screen of the Redmi K30 5G to support 144Hz refresh rate.

The video shared by Weibing shows that the 120Hz display of the smartphone cans support 144Hz without any issue. The video was shared few hours after Nubia chief Ni Fei shared a screenshot to reveal that its upcoming Red Magic 5G flagship phone will be equipped with a 144Hz display.

The news about 144Hz is surfacing at a time when major brands like Samsung and OnePlus are gearing up to launch their next phones with 120Hz displays. It is likely that more phones with 144Hz may break cover in the coming months.

In related news, Redmi has started with the pre-orders of the Redmi K30 5G’s 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage modes in China. They are respectively priced at 1,999 Yuan and 2,299 Yuan. These models will be available for purchase starting from tomorrow.
