Samsung is reportedly working on the Galaxy Fold 2. The device is expected to launch in the second half of the year. Ross Young who is the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants has shared some key information on the display of the foldable smartphone. At the same time, XDA Developers has spilled information on the other specs of the Galaxy Fold 2.
Young revealed that the Galaxy Fold 2 has an inner flexible display of 7.59 inches which is bigger than 7.3-inch screen found on the original Galaxy Fold. The inner AMOLED display on the successor model will support 2213 x 1689 pixels resolution, 372ppi pixel density and 120Hz refresh rate. Instead of a notch, it will have a top-right corner positioned punch-hole. There will be Ultra Thin Glass (hard plastic) protective layer on the screen to prevent scratches due to the usage of S Pen. The addition of stylus will enhance the tablet experience on the device.
The original Galaxy Fold has a 4.6-inch outer AMOLED display. However, successor is expected to feature a larger 6.23-ich display with 2267 x 819 pixels resolution and 60Hz refresh rate support. It will be having a punch-hole for the front camera. Benjamin Geskin has shared two renders based on the rumors surrounding the Galaxy Fold 2.
XDA claims that the Galaxy Fold 2 could be fueled by Snapdragon 865 or 865+ Soc. The foldable phone is expected to arrive in 256 GB and 512 GB storage sizes. It is expected to feature the same quad camera setup that is available on the Galaxy S20+. The device may house a 4,500mAh battery that will be equipped with 25W fast charging, wireless charging and reverse charging.
The Galaxy Fold 2 is likely to arrive in Martian Green and Astro Blue. There could be a premium version featuring ceramic and stainless-steel body.
