Realme V5 goes official with Dimensity 720 SoC, 48MP Quad-cameras & 5,000mAh battery

As scheduled, Realme has officially announced the company’s first V-series smartphone – Realme V5 – in the Chinese market today.

On paper, this device shape up to be a decent alternative for some of the recently announced budget-centric 5G smartphones including the OPPO A72 5G and Vivo Y51s to name a few.

For starter, the Realme V5 features a 6.5-inches FHD+ LCD display at the front alongside a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. What’s interesting is that that front panel actually carries support for 90Hz screen refresh rate which helps to differentiate it from other 5G mid-ranger smartphones that come with a standard 60Hz screen refresh rate.

Under the hood, the Realme V5 is fueled by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC which allows the device to support 5G connectivity for both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes. It will be paired with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage in the memory department.

On the photography-end, the Realme V5 comes with a rectangular camera housing on its rear which flaunts a quad-cameras array. These cameras include a 48 megapixels main camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens, 2 megapixels macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels depth sensor. It will be rounded up with a 16 megapixels selfie camera at the front.

At the helm, the device is fitted with a massive 5,000mAh battery which has 30W fast-charging support via a USB Type-C port, capable of delivering a full charge within 65 minutes. As usual, it will run on the custom Realme UI (based on Android 10 OS), and will be preserving a 3.5mm headphone jack.

For those who’re interested, the Realme V5 will be offered in three different colorways including Blue, Green and Silver. In the Chinese market, the device carries an attractive price tag of 1,499 Yuan (US$215) and 1,899 Yuan (US$272) for its 6GB+128GB and 8GB+128GB models respectively.
