After months of hiatus in the global market, Motorola is now back with a pair of new offerings known as the Motorola Moto G100 and G50 which are targeted toward the 5G segment.
Before we dive into their specs, its worth noting that the Moto G100 is basically a rebranded model of the Motorola Edge S, while the Moto G50 is a slightly upgraded model of the Moto G10 with some changes here and there.
Motorola Moto G100
Starting with the Moto G100, the device is built around a 6.7-inches FHD+ IPS LCD display that offers a smooth 90Hz screen refresh rate and carries support for HDR10 contents. The front panel is pretty unique, in the sense that it features a dual-selfie cameras which include a 16 megapixels primary shooter as well as an 8 megapixels snapper for ultra-wide.
Over at the back, the Motorola Edge S arrives with a squarish camera island which houses a quad-camera setup lead by a 64 megapixels primary shooter. It will be assisted by three other cameras including an 8 megapixels ultra-wide camera, 2 megapixels depth sensor, as well as a ToF sensor.
Under the hood, its Snapdragon 870 chipset is capable of supporting both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) 5G modes. In terms of performance, it sits between the Snapdragon 865+ and the flagship Snapdragon 888 chip. It will be paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage in the memory department.
Keeping its lights on will be a massive 5,000mAh battery which carries support for 20W fast-charging. Other than that, it also brings along NFC connectivity, 3.5mm headphone jack and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
For those who’re interested, the Moto G100 is available in three different colorways including Iridescent Sky, Iridescent Ocean and Slate Grey. Its currently priced at €499.99/£449.99 for its sole 8GB+128GB model.
Motorola Moto G50
Coming to the more affordable Moto G50, the device boasts a 6.5-inches IPS LCD display with HD+ screen resolution and a 13 megapixels selfie camera. Interestingly, the device do offers up to 90Hz refresh rate which is kind of bizarre since it has a HD+ screen resolution.
For photography, the Moto G50 also arrives with a triple-camera array at the back. These cameras include a 48 megapixels primary shooter, 5 megapixels macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels depth sensor.
The device is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 480 chipset that’s coupled with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB onboard storage. As usual, its storage capacity can still be further expanded via a microSD card.
The Moto G50 draws power from a hefty 5,000mAh battery which carries support for 15W fast-charging even though its shipped with a 10W power adaptor. Other than that, you do get NFC connectivity, 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner too. According to Motorola, the Moto G50 will be priced at €249.99 in the European market.
