Samsung Galaxy A82 appears on Google Play Console with Snapdragon 855+

Earlier this month, an upcoming Samsung A series smartphone known as the Galaxy A82 was spotted on Geekbench with an two-year-old Snapdragon 855+ chipset. Now, the same device has made its appearance on Google Play Console with the aforementioned chipset as well.

Apart from reaffirming its underlying chipset, the same listing also confirmed that the device will arrive with 6GB RAM and the latest Android 11 OS out of the box. Similarly, its official render also revealed that the Samsung Galaxy A82 will feature an Infinity-O display upfront as well.

Although it may sounds a bit of an oddball, but Samsung seems to have likened the idea of equipping slightly older flagship chips on mid-ranger phones. One of the possible possible reasons behind such strategy is probably to keep phone pricing more amicable while at the same time, offering a near flagship experience for its users. Such strategy however, may not be well-received by some.

The Samsung Galaxy A82 isn’t alone, the recently announced Samsung Galaxy M62 which was launched in the Malaysian market earlier this month is also equipped with a two-year-old Exynos 9825 chipset which was previously used in other flagship phones like the Galaxy Note 10 series devices.

If nothing goes wrong, we can expect the Galaxy A82 to make its official debut later this month.
