Earlier this year, Xiaomi was all over the headlines when the company overtaken Apple to become the second largest smartphone vendor (in terms of shipment number) during the second-quarter of the year.
Three months down the road, Apple had finally regained it’s second position with an overall market share of 15% after shipping a total of 49.2 million smartphones during the third-quarter. It was noted that the strong sales of the newly announced iPhone 13 series played a significant role in the company’s success during the last quarter.
Although Xiaomi now sits in the third position, but it trails behind the Cupertino giant by just a single percentage point with an impressive 14% market share which translates to a total of 44 million units shipped during the same period of time.
Samsung on the other hand, sits comfortably at the top position with a whopping 21% market share after shipping a grand total of 69.4 million units. Despite that, the Korean electronics giant registered a 13% dip in the total number of smartphones shipped as compared to the same period of time last year.
As for the forth and fifth positions, they are still occupied by OPPO and VIVO which had shipped a total of 36.7 million and 34.2 million units respectively during the third-quarter of the year.
