Following the launch of the Huawei P50 Pro (Review) in the South-East Asian market, Huawei is now back with the new Huawei Nova 9 SE smartphone in the Malaysian market where the phone carries an attractive launch price of just RM1,099 (US$262).
On the outside, it’s obvious that the new Huawei Nova 9 SE shares a largely identical design as the Nova 9 which was announced last year. However, we do see some notable differences in terms of their underlying specs.
Right off the bat, the Huawei Nova 9 SE features a 6.78” LCD display which offers a FHD+ screen resolution alongside a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. Other than that, there’s also a 16 megapixels front-facing camera situated within a centered hole-punch cutout to help with selfie and video calls.
On the rear side, the phone comes with a total of four cameras comprising of a 108 megapixels main camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide camera, as well as a pair of 2 megapixels cameras for macro and depth information. For those who might not know, the Nova 9 SE is in fact the first Huawei smartphone to feature a 108MP snapper.
Under the hood, the Huawei Nova 9 SE is tipped to be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 680 chipset which will be paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB built-in storage which carries support for storage expansion via a microSD card.
To keep it’s lights on, the phone is equipped with a respectable 4,000mAh battery which carries support for a blazing-fast 66W Huawei SuperCharge wired charging solution. As usual, we can expect it to be shipped with EMUI 12 based on Android 11 OS right off the box.
