Japanese electronics giant Sharp has officially announced it’s next-generation’s Sharp AQOUS R7 flagship model in the Japanese market which will be succeeding last year’s AQOUS R6.
Just like it’s predecessor, the new AQUOS R7 remains a photography-centric smartphone that features an advanced camera system co-engineered with famed optic equipment manufacturer Leica – which used to co-engineer Huawei’s “P” and “Mate” series camera system.
What’s different between the Sharp AQUOS R7 and any other flagship models is that the phone relies only on a single 47.2MP main camera instead of having three or more cameras at the back.
The main highlight of the new 1” sized sensor is that it’s able to collect 1.8x more amount of light as well as achieving twice the autofocusing speed over last year’s model. Other than the main camera, there’s also a 1.9MP depth sensing unit to help with portrait shots.
Coming over to the front side of the phone, the Sharp AQOUS R7 features a high-end 6.6” Pro IGZO OLED display which offers a sharp 1260 x 2730 pixels screen resolution alongside a buttery-smooth 240Hz adaptive refresh rate as well as an impressive peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits.
Under the hood, the Sharp AQUOS R7 is helmed by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset which will be coupled with 12GB RAM and 256GB built-in storage in the memory department. Keeping it’s lights on is a respectable 5,000mAh battery with an unspecified charging speed.
Those who’re interested can pick the phone from two different colorways such as Silver and Black. In the Japanese market, the Sharp AQUOS R7 will be available for purchase starting July this year, even though it’s official pricing has yet to be announced.
