Xiaomi has officially announced a new entry-level smartphone – Redmi 12 – in the global market. As you can probably tell from it’s name, this device will come as a successor to last year’s Redmi 11 which was one of the most popular budget-centric smartphone in the company’s portfolio.
The new Redmi 12 brings along a spacious 6.79” LCD display which features a FHD+ screen resolution, fast 90Hz refresh rate as well as an 8 megapixels front-facing camera that helps with selfies and video calls. At the back, the phone comes with a triple-cam setup lead by a 50 megapixels main camera along with an 8 megapixels ultra-wide and 2 megapixels macro camera for close-up photography.
Under the hood, the Redmi 12 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G88 chipset which will be paired up with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage that can be further expanded via a microSD card. Other than that, the phone also features a respectable 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast-charging support.
Those who’re interested can pick the phone from three different colorways such as Midnight Black, Sky Blue and Polar Silver. Pricing for the Redmi 12 kicks off from 5,299 Baht ($153) in the Thai market for the 8GB+128GB trim.
