iQOO is reportedly working on the Z9 series of smartphones for the Chinese market. Last year, the country received two smartphones, such as the iQOO Z8 and iQOO Z8x, which came equipped with the Dimensity 8200 and the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipsets, respectively. The predecessor models featured LCD panels that offered up to a 120Hz refresh rate. A new leak reveals that the iQOO will use a different display for the iQOO Z9.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the iQOO Z9 will feature an OLED panel that offers a 1.5K resolution. Unfortunately, the leaker did not share anything else about the device. Last week, tipster Smart Pikachu revealed that the Z9 will feature the Dimensity 8300 chipset. Hence, it could be the second phone after the Redmi K70e to feature the said chipset in the Chinese market. Readers are advised to wait for other reports to learn more about the Z9’s specs.
In related news, the Bluetooth SIG authority recently approved the iQOO Z9 with the I2302 model number. The said model code belongs to the global version of the Z9. There is a possibility that the company may release different phones with the same Z9 name in the global and Chinese markets. At present, the rumor mill is yet to leak details of the global version of the Z9.
The Chinese market is expected to receive a couple of new smartphones. The iQOO 12s, equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, is said to be in the works. This will be the third phone after the iQOO 12 and 12 Pro, which feature the said chip. It is likely that the iQOO 12s may debut by late Q2 or in Q3 this year.
