It’s official — Redmi Turbo 3 is launching later this month in China. The phone is codenamed “Little Tornado” and will be the first of many smartphones in the new performance-focused Turbo series.
The Turbo lineup was previously part of the Note series. However, moving forward, it will be a brand new segment in itself, positioning itself between the Note and the K series.
From now on, the K-series will focus on Redmi’s high-end phones. Thus, it will be upon Turbo to bridge the gap between the flagship and midrange phones as the new performance flagship.
The upcoming Redmi Turbo 3 will be powered by the recently announced Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. It will be among the early adopters of Qualcomm’s latest 8 Gen series chip. For those who don’t know, it is a toned-down version of the regular 8 Gen 3 with one less performance cores and lower clocked speed.
The chip features a single prime core with a 3.0GHz frequency, four performance cores with a 2.8GHz frequency, and three efficiency cores with a 2.0GHz frequency. As for the GPU, it features the same Adreno as the last-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Redmi Turbo 3, model number 24069RA21C, was recently spotted at the Chinese 3C, revealing the battery manufactured by Xi’an BYD electronics and 90W wired fast charging capability.
A real-life image of the Redmi Turbo 3 was officially shared by the brand’s executive last week. It showed the phone with a flat display and a centre-aligned selfie cutout. The phone will likely have a 1.5K AMOLED screen, just like its predecessor, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo.
The bezels are wider at the chin than at the top and sides. The screen-to-body ratio is said to be comparable to that of the Redmi K70E. It is said to pack other specs, such as a 5,000mAh battery, a 20-megapixel front camera, and a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 + 8-mgeapixel IMX355 ultra-wide + 2-megapixel triple camera unit.
There is no specific release date, but Redmi Turbo 3 will arrive in China later this month, as confirmed by the brand manager Wang Teng. Speculations are rife that the Turbo 3 will be get rebranded as the Poco F6 in the markets outside of China.
