Vivo X200 series design, key specifications officially confirmed

Vivo is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated X200 series of flagship smartphones on October 14 in China. Jia Jingdong, the Vice President and General Manager of Brand and Product Strategy at Vivo, has shared initial insights into the lineup, which includes the Vivo X200, X200 Pro Mini, and X200 Pro. Along with design details, he revealed camera samples that showcase the impressive capabilities of each model.

One of the standout features of the X200 series is its advanced imaging system, highlighted by a Zeiss 200-megapixel APO super telephoto lens. This lens offers a 135mm focal length for better portrait compression and introduces a “telephoto macro” mode for detailed photography. The series also includes a pioneering “landscape mode,” enabling users to capture breathtaking sceneries with ease.

Video capabilities have been significantly upgraded, featuring 4K 120fps slow motion, 10-bit log support, and 4K backlit movie portrait video. These enhancements are made possible through Vivo’s proprietary V3+ imaging chip and the exclusive Sony LYT-818 sensor, catering to both amateur and professional photographers.

The Vivo X200 series is powered by the Dimensity 9400 processor, which boasts impressive benchmark scores exceeding 3 million on AnTuTu. This chip supports a range of AI productivity tasks, including real-time voice interaction and smart beauty filters. Furthermore, Vivo introduces innovative “kilometre-level network-free communication” technology, which hints at support satellite connectivity. The said technology utilises LoRa spread spectrum for long-distance, cost-free communication without relying on traditional network coverage.

The series also features enhanced battery performance with the introduction of upgraded silicon negative electrode and semi-solid battery technology, resulting in higher energy density, low-temperature resistance, and extended lifespan. These advancements ensure reliable performance even in extreme conditions, making the devices suitable for scientific expeditions in challenging environments like Antarctica and Mount Everest.

Running on OriginOS 5, the X200 series can handle a variety of daily AI tasks independently, ensuring user privacy and efficiency. Features include millisecond-level real-time voice interaction, smart filters for live broadcasts, personalized smart schedule management, and real-time object recognition with augmented reality overlays.

Jingdong also highlighted the display technology in the X200 series, featuring the Zeiss Master Color Screen and 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming for an eye-friendly experience comparable to the iPhone’s retina display. The Pro Mini variant will sport a compact flat screen design, characterized by narrow borders and smooth corners.
