Recently, OnePlus launched the OnePlus 13 flagship phone in China. The brand is also said to be working on the Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro for the Chinese market. Next year, the brand is expected to unveil the OnePlus Open 2 for the global market. Likely, the Open 2 will be a rebranded version of the upcoming Find N5, which is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. A new development reveals that the brand could be working on a compact flagship phone.
OnePlus’ compact flagship phone in works
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, OnePlus will announce a compact flagship phone in the second quarter of 2025. At present, there is no confirmation about the moniker of the device. So, it is unclear whether it will be part of the numbered series or the Ace lineup.
It is known that OnePlus’ sibling brand Oppo is also working on a compact flagship phone dubbed the Find X8 Mini. This phone is likely to break cover alongside the Find X8 Ultra in the first quarter of 2025 in China.
If Oppo releases the Find X8 Mini in China, OnePlus may not release its compact flagship in the same market as it may negatively impact the sales of the X8 Mini. Conversely, the OnePlus compact phone may pack different specs and release as an Ace-series product in China. Globally, it may arrive as a Nord-branded phone.
Since these are just assumptions, it is advisable to wait for further reports to know what to expect from OnePlus’ compact flagship phone. As can be seen above, DCS has also speculated that Oppo is also tentatively working on the Find X8S series, which may arrive around May or June 2025.
