Reports have claimed that Xiaomi will not launch a book-style foldable phone – the Mix Fold 5 this year. However, it is expected to unveil the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 as the successor to last year’s Mix Flip, which debuted as Xiaomi’s first flip-style foldable. A new leak from Smart Pikachu has shed light on the upcoming Mix Flip 2, hinting at significant improvements over its predecessor.
Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 key upgrades tipped

According to the leak, the Mix Flip 2 will feature a more immersive external display compared to its predecessor. The device is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, making it one of the most powerful flip phones on the market. The leak reveals that the device will come with other features, such as wireless charging, water resistance, a large battery, a slim build with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a new color scheme.
The Xiaomi Mix Flip features a primary camera and a telephoto camera on its back. However, the new leak reiterates recent claims that the Mix Flip 2 will feature an ultra-wide snapper instead of a telephoto lens. The same tipster previously claimed that the external design remains largely unchanged and that a bundled package will still be available. Additionally, the leaker also claimed that the Flip 2 would be unveiled in May.
According to other reports, Xiaomi is reportedly incorporating an IPX8 water resistance rating. The battery is now speculated to have a 5,100mAh battery, the largest ever seen in a flip phone.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi is said to be refining the hinge mechanism to reduce the screen crease, improving durability and aesthetics. Previous reports have also revealed that the Mix Flip 2 will comprise an OIS-enabled 50-megapixel main camera and a 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor.
