Xiaomi 17 series’ first look reveals rear-facing secondary display

Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 series will debut later this month in China. The brand has decided to skip the Xiaomi 16 moniker in a bid to compete with the iPhone 17 lineup, which recently went official in multiple markets, including China. Today, the brand released an official teaser to give the first glimpse of the Xiaomi 17 Pro series’ design.

Xiaomi 17 Pro series design revealed

Xiaomi has already confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 lineup will have three models, such as the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. The teaser reveals that the Pro models will be equipped with a secondary rear-facing display.

Unlike the small secondary screen that was introduced on the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra a couple of years ago, the secondary screen on the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max covers the entire top area, which houses the triple camera setup.

The secondary screen will possibly allow users to view notifications, check the time, and more. Rumours are rife that the Xiaomi 17 series will be unveiled on Sept. 26 in China as the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered smartphone. Therefore, it is likely that the brand may reveal more details about the secondary screen as well as the entire lineup in the coming days ahead of the launch.

As per reports, the standard Xiaomi 17 will have a 6.1-inch display, whereas the 17 Pro will be equipped with a 6.3-inch screen. Both phones are expected to support a 1.5K resolution. The larger Xiaomi 17 Pro Max may house a 6.8-inch display that offers a 2K resolution. These devices may pack 6,000mAh, 6,300mAh, and 7,500mAh batteries, respectively.
