In January, a slew of new smartphones is expected to hit the Chinese market. While rumours suggest that the Redmi Turbo 5 will debut in January, there is also speculation that it could be joined by the Redmi Turbo 5 Pro. A new leak, courtesy of tipster Bald Panda, specifically mentions the exact names of these chipsets.

According to the tipster, the Redmi Turbo 5 and Turbo 5 Pro will be powered by the Dimensity 8500 and Dimensity 9500e chipsets, which have not yet gone official. The Dimensity 8500 chip will first be seen on the Honor Power 2, which is scheduled to launch on January 5, 2026, in China. However, Honor is advertising this chip under the Dimensity 8500 Elite branding.

Reports have revealed that Redmi Turbo 5 and Turbo 5 Pro will feature a 1.5K LTPS OLED screen. Both phones may offer a battery capacity of up to 9,000mAh. The 3C certification of both phones has revealed that they may support 100W fast charging. Both devices are also expected to arrive with an IP68/69-rated body.

The Redmi Turbo 5 series is expected to face competition from the OnePlus Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V. Reports have revealed that these devices will be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipsets, respectively, and both will pack a 9,000mAh battery with 100W charging.

The Redmi Turbo 5 and Turbo 5 Pro are expected to get rebranded as Poco phones globally. These devices are likely to be called the Poco X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max, respectively.
