Redmi is expected to unveil the Redmi Turbo 5 series of smartphones later this month in China. Today, MediaTek held a launch event in China to officially unveil the Dimensity 8400 and Dimensity 9500s chipsets. At the event, it was confirmed that the upcoming Redmi Turbo 5 Max will debut as the world’s first smartphone powered by the Dimensity 9500s chipset.
Redmi Turbo 5 Max’s chipset confirmed
The above poster released by Redmi confirms that the Redmi Turbo 5 Max will be equipped with the all-new Dimensity 9500s, built on a 3nm process. The new chip comprises a single prime Cortex-X925 core clocked at up to 3.7GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores. For graphics, it features the Immortalis-G925 GPU.
The flagship-class chipset is capable of achieving an AnTuTu score of around 3.61 million. At present, there is no clarity on which other smartphones will be powered by this chipset.
The Redmi Turbo 5 Max with the Dimensity 9500s is expected to rival upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 5-powered phones in the Chinese market. These include the OnePlus Ace 6T, iQOO Z11 Turbo, Realme Neo 8, and Moto X70 Air Pro.
According to rumours, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max will feature a 1.5K LTPS OLED display and pack a 9,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging support. For photography, it may sport a 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual rear camera setup and run HyperOS 3-based Android 16. The rest of the specifications are currently under wraps.
The Redmi Turbo 5 Max is also expected to be accompanied by a slightly inferior model, which is tipped to feature the Dimensity 8500 chipset, the same processor that powers the Honor Power 2.
