Xiaomi 18 Pro Max display and camera details leaked

Xiaomi is expected to announce the Xiaomi 18 series smartphones in September this year in China. Initially, the lineup may include the Xiaomi 18, Xiaomi 18 Pro, and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, and the company may add the Xiaomi 18 Ultra by the end of this year. Fresh Weibo posts by tipster Digital Chat Station have revealed some key details about the Pro Max edition.

According to the tipster, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will feature a 6.9-inch flat OLED screen with extremely narrow, symmetrical bezels enabled by LIPO packaging technology. The panel is said to use a new custom domestic display substrate, support the BT.2020 color standard, and deliver improved low-brightness performance down to 1 nit, suggesting better visibility in dark environments.

In a subsequent Weibo post, the same source revealed that the device is currently being tested with a 200-megapixel large-sensor periscope telephoto camera. The engineering prototype reportedly offers around 3x optical zoom and supports telephoto macro photography, with a minimum focusing distance of roughly 15cm.

Previous leaks have claimed that its rear camera setup will also comprise a 200-megapixel main camera and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. The same setup is likely to be available on the smaller Xiaomi 18 Pro. Recent reports have also claimed that the standard Xiaomi 18 could be equipped with a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.

Reports further suggest that the Xiaomi 18, 18 Pro, and 18 Pro Max will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset. As for the Xiaomi 18 Ultra, the company may reserve the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip for that device. The rest of the details about the Xiaomi 18 series remain under wraps.
