Earlier today, Chinese publications reported that Redmi has delisted the Redmi K30 Pro smartphone in the home market. Since then there are speculations that the company is gearing up to launch Redmi K40 series of smartphones. Considering that the first Redmi K30 series phones were announced in December last year, it is likely that the arrival of K40 lineup could be close at hand. A tipster from China has seemingly teased some key information on the upcoming K40 series.
The Weibo post by the tipster reveals that a mysterious phone has a flat OLED screen with a punch-hole design. He also claimed that the screen carries support for the 120Hz refresh rate. Based on the comments to his Weibo post, it can be said that they could be talking about the coming Redmi K40 phone.
Last year in December, Redmi launched the Redmi K30 4G and Redmi K30 5G and earlier this year came the Redmi K30 Pro flagship phone. Hence, there is a possibility that Redmi may adopt the same strategy this year.
The Redmi K40 5G could be an upper mid-range phone driven by a new Snapdragon 7-series chipset. Unlike last year, there may not be any 4G version of the phone. The Redmi K30 Pro could be driven by the Snapdragon 875 mobile platform.
In related news, a Xiaomi phone with model number M2012K11C. It was spotted with specs like the alleged Snapdragon 875 chip, 6 GB of AM and Android 11 OS. The identity of the device is not known yet. It remains to be seen whether the device is a Xiaomi Mi 111 or Redmi K40 series phone.
