In the previous week, a leaked image showing the alleged front panel of the Xiaomi Mi 7. The notch present on the Mi 7’s front panel appeared wider than other notch enabled Android smartphones. This could because it could be housing complex sensors for 3D facial recognition. A fresh photo of the alleged Mi 7 has been leaked. It reveals that the handset will not only feature 3D facial identification, but also it will be equipped with under-display fingerprint scanner.
Apple had axed the Touch ID sensor from iPhone X since it arrive with the robust Face ID, the 3D facial scanning feature. It sounds too ambitious that Xiaomi would include 3D facial recognition as well as under-display fingerprint scanner on the Mi 7.
In the previous month, Xiaomi CO Lei Jun had hinted that the Mi 7 is equipped with in-screen fingerprint reader. The leaked firmware files of the Mi 7 have revealed that it will be equipped with 3D facial identification, but it did not contain any information on the inclusion of the in-screen fingerprint sensor.
The leaked firmware files that allegedly belong to the larger Mi 7 Plus have suggested that it may arrive with advanced fingerprint scanning feature. Hence, there is a possibility that the under-display fingerprint reader function could be only available on the Mi 7 Plus. Could be also featuring 3D facial recognition?
It is advisable to take this report with a grain of salt since the credibility of the leaked image could be confirmed.
