Amazon has officially announced a new iteration of Fire HD 8 tablets which include the likes of the vanilla Fire HD 8, Fire HD 8 Plus, as well as Fire HD Kids Edition. All three tablets comes with pretty much the same specs except for the availability of special bundles for the latter two.
The Amazon Fire HD 8 will continue to arrive with an 8-inches LCD display which encompasses a HD screen resolution. The tablet seems to have equally thick bezels along the four sides which will be accompanied with a 2MP selfie camera at the top bezel.
Under the hood, the Fire HD 8 tablet will boast a 2.0GHz octa-core CPU which is said to feature 30% faster performance than its predecessor. This will be assisted by 2GB worth of RAM, as well as an option between 32GB or 64GB storage capacity.
The higher-end Fire HD 8 Plus model on the other hand, has 3GB RAM instead. Furthermore, the “Plus” model also comes with wireless charging capability and has a slightly faster 9W in-box adapter. There will also come with free six months Kindle Unlimited as well.
Moreover, Amazon also claimed that the new Fire HD 8 tablets will have a much longer battery life which could support up to 12 hours of usage with a single charge.
As for the Kids Edition model, it will come with the same specs as the vanilla model but is bundled with a kid-proof case with a new adjustable stand in blue, pink, or purple. On top of that, the Kid Edition also comes with a year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited.
In terms of pricing, the vanilla Fire HD 8 is priced at US$89.99 while the “Plus” and “Kid Edition” models are priced at US$109.99 and US$139.99 respectively.
