ASUS recently confirmed the launch date for the ROG Phone 8 series. The brand is all set to unveil its next-generation gaming phones on Jan. 8 during the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 tech exhibition, which will be held in Las Vegas, US. Ahead of the launch, the company released the following image to reveal the rear design of the ROG Phone 8 series.
The official image released by the brand reveals a more subtle look as compared to the predecessor ROG Phone series, which appeared like hard-core gaming phones. The brand is also running a blind camera test, which suggests that the ROG Phone 8 series may offer an improved photography experience. The official image reveals a unique camera module with three cameras and an LED flash inside. However, the camera specifications are not known yet.
The Chinese division of the company has released a teaser. It reveals that the smartphone will adopt a new display design this time. It will have a punch-hole screen with slimmer bezels, offering a higher screen-to-body ratio than before.
The detailed specifications of the ROG Phone 8 series are not known yet. The Geekbench listings of the device have revealed that it will ship with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and the lineup is expected to have up to 24 GB of RAM. The ROG Phone 8 lineup will run on ROG U-based Android 14.
In China, the ROG Phone 8 series will launch on Jan. 16. It will rival the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered Nubia Red Magic 9 Pro series of gaming phones.
