Asus will announce the ROG Phone 8 series of gaming phones on Jan. 8 through the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 tech event. A new report by WindowsReport has revealed the leaked renders and entire specifications of the ROG Phone 8 and the ROG Phone 8 Pro. Here is a look at what to expect from both phones.
The leaked renders released by the publication reveal a toned-down design as compared to the predecessor ROG Phones. On the front, it now features a new punch-hole screen with minimal bezels. The rear panel of the device bears a raised camera module with three cameras and an LED flash unit. The RGB light-enabled ROG logo is also available on the rear panel of the ROG Phone 8 series. In the leaked renders, the device shown in a matte gray finish is the ROG Phone 8, whereas the one with a glossy rear panel is the ROG Phone 8 Pro.

According to the report, both Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered devices will feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, up to 2,500 nits of peak brightness, an in-screen fingerprint scanner, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. The Pro model will have a 32-megapixel front camera, and its back panel will feature an OIS-enabled IMX890 50-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 32-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. The camera specifications of the ROG Phone 8 are not known yet.
The ROG Phone 8 series will have a 5,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging support. It runs on ROG UI-based Android 14 and comes with an IP68-rated chassis. The series will offer other features, such as Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a 5-magnet speaker.
The ROG Phone 8 is expected to arrive with 12 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. On the other hand, the Pro variant will come in two options, such as 16 GB RAM + 512 GB storage and 24 GB RAM + 1 TB storage. One of the color variants of the ROG Phone 8 series is dubbed Rebel Grey.
