Xiaomi has just launched the Xiaomi 14 series with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip onboard. Brands like iQOO, OnePlus, Realme, Redmi, Meizu, Nubia, OPPO, and Vivo will also launch flagship phones powered by the new chip in the coming months. Today, ASUS also confirmed that it will announce a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered flagship phone.
The above poster confirms that the next-generation ROG phones will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform. The ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate came equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Recent reports have revealed that the ROG Phone 8 series will also include multiple models.
Back in August, several ASUS phones bearing the model numbers AI2401_A, AI2401_C, and AI2401_E were spotted in the IMEI database. Speculations are rife that AI2401_E corresponds to the ROG Phone 8 Pro, while AI2401_C is likely linked to the ROG Phone 8 and Phone 8 Ultimate variants intended for the China and India markets. Meanwhile, the AI2401_A model number may be connected to the ROG Phone 8 and Phone 8 Ultimate variants meant for the global market.
The AI2401_A device was spotted in Geekbench’s database in September. The listing revealed that the device is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 16 GB of RAM, and Android 14, which will have the ROG UI on top. The device scored 2213 points in the single-core test and 7048 points in the multi-core test.
The other details of the ROG Phone 8 series are under wraps. The ROG Phone 7 lineup was unveiled in April of this year. Hence, it is likely to debut at some point in the first half of the year.
