Asus is reportedly working on the ROG Phone 9 series of smartphones. One of the ROG Phone 9 variants bearing the ASUSAI2501A model number has emerged in the database of China’s 3C certification platform. This indicates that it may launch before the end of this year in China.
Asus ROG Phone 9: What’s known so far
The ROG Phone 9 series’ 3C certification has revealed that it may support 65W wired charging. According to tipster Smart Pikachu, the device will come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset.
The leak reveals that the ROG Phone 9 will have an upgraded display. Recall that the 6.78-inch AMOLED panel of the ROG Phone 8 and 8 Pro, which debuted in January 2024, boasted Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 165Hz.
The tipster also disclosed that the ROG Phone 9 would come with 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The rest of the specifications of the device are under wraps.
In October, Xiaomi is expected to announce the Xiaomi 15 and the Xiaomi 15 Pro as the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 4-powered smartphones in China. The OnePlus 13, iQOO 13, and Honor Magic 7 series launching in quick successions in the Chinese market are also expected to feature the SD8G4. As far as the gaming-focused ROG Phone 9 phone is concerned, it is expected to rival the Red Magic 10 series, which is also expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
