The OPPO Reno3 series smartphones have created lots of confusion due to its haphazard rebranding across the global markets. For example, the OPPO Reno3 Pro 5G for the Chinese market is different from the Reno3 Pro which was announced in India.
Although some may argue that the additional “5G” moniker at the back could help to differentiate between the two devices, but a non-geeky users probably would not take note of that, and may ultimately mistook them as the same device.
As that’s not confusing enough, OPPO decided to launch the China’s OPPO Reno3 Pro 5G as Reno3 5G in the Japanese market. This had already been confirmed by the device’s listing on Softbank.
Now, imagine a Japanese customer who’s interested in the OPPO Reno3 5G (Japan) do a Google search for its specs or reviews, there is a possible chance he may be ended up with information pertaining to the OPPO Reno3 (Global) or Reno3 5G (China).
Since the OPPO Reno3 5G model in Japan is a higher-end model than the OPPO Reno3 (Global) and Reno3 5G (China), the company may ended up loosing a potential customer if he was presented with the wrong model.
