Chinese manufacturing giant, Xiaomi, is making all the headlines in the news presently. Just last week it launched its new breed of mid-range smartphones – Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro in India. At the time, the company promised that it will release an OTA update by the end of March which would bring the face unlock feature to the Pro version. However, an OTA update just touched down and the biggest surprise is that it comes with face unlock feature for the Redmi Note 5 Pro which means that Xiaomi is delivering ahead of schedule.

This information was announced by Xiaomi India’s Product PR representative, Clinton Jeff, who said that n OTA update to MIUI v9.2.4 is available for the Redmi Note 5 Pro out of the box. Thus for those who laid their hands on the smartphone today, this feature will be available to them right away. Apart from Face Unlock feature, this update also comes with significant camera improvements and stability optimizations.
Xiaomi India hit a new milestone today as the company sold three million units of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro in less than three units and the sale of these smartphones will recommence on February 28th on Flipkart and Mi.com. The Face Unlock feature in the Redmi Note 5 Pro is not tied to a single camera sensor but the implementation of this feature is harmonized with the device’s camera sensor.
