Samsung is long rumored to be working on foldable smartphones. In fact, the company even showcased a prototype of a foldable phone in 2013. It seems that the arrival of the smartphone is close at hand as the president of Samsung Mobile, DJ Koh has confirmed that the first foldable Samsung will debut next year if all the hurdles are resolved.
During a recent interview, Koh spoke about the pre-orders of Galaxy Note 8 in India. At the same press meet, he confirmed on the arrival of the foldable phone, but he refrained from revealing the obstacles that the firm is facing.
Recent reports have revealed that the Samsung’s upcoming foldable phone would be rolled out as a Galaxy Note device. Since Samsung is known for debuting Galaxy Note phones in the second half of the year, the foldable smartphone may come in Q3 or Q4 2018.
It may be called Samsung Galaxy X as the company has trademarked “Galaxy X” moniker earlier this year. The handset also received Wi-Fi and Bluetooth SIG certification. Recent reports have revealed that it may feature two S-AMOLED screens with a hinge placed in between. When opened, users may be able to use it like a tablet.
Koh also claimed that a Bixby AI enabled smart speaker is in works. However, he did not share any information on the arrival of this device.
