It was reported that the Gionee brand had gone bankrupt in December 2018. In September 2019, the brand came back with Gionee M11 series of smartphones and later it released some other devices such as Gionee Smart Life smartwatch, Gionee K3 and Gionee A326 flip phone in the remaining months of the year. The year 2020 has started and the Chinese firm has introduced the Gionee Steel 5 smartphone.
Gionee Steel 5 Specifications and Features
The Gionee Steel 5 features has a waterdrop notch enabled 6.217-inch screen. Gionee claims that the phone offers HD+ resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels which seems incorrect. Gionee is yet to confirm the name of the processor that powers the device.
The SoC of the Steel 5 is coupled with up to 6 GB of RAM. The phone users with up to 128 GB of storage. The device houses a massive 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W fast charging. The Android 9 Pie OS along with AmigOS skin from Gionee runs on the Steel 5. There is intelligent power scheme available on the device for enhance battery performance.
The Gionee Steel 5 has a front-facing camera of 13—megapixel. The back panel features a 12-megapixel main lens and a 2-megapixel secondary shooter. There is a square shaped camera module which houses two LED flash units. The device lacks a fingerprint scanner. The Steel 5 has 159.7 x 75.9 x 9.9mm dimensions and it is equipped with a sturdy chassis. Gionee is yet to confirm the pricing and availability of the Gionee Steel 5.
